The project

He did not buy it to sell it. He bought it to live in it.

The product looked like the other duplexes we had worked on. The process did not. The client was not developing to sell: he was turning the property into his own home.

Adapting it to the way he actually lives meant reworking several areas, revisiting earlier decisions and answering to conditions that only show up once the work is under way. Every stage brought new questions.

Our job was to walk him through it: order the priorities and coordinate the changes with the architecture, engineering and construction teams without losing sight of where it had to end up.
